How to use Inclusion Stories

How can you use this website?

Where to start?

Our mission is to investigate whether reflection using the MSC method can serve to empower teachers and school leaders to develop inclusive practices. In doing so we also aim to share our stories and our work. This website is made for dissemination purposes, and we hope that you will take the stories and the methods with you to apply in your context.

We suggest that you:

  • Use the stories for reflections in your school or workplace. What is your perspective on the most significant change?
  • Use the process that we created for your own inclusion stories project.
  • Share your stories and your reflections with us to be posted on this site.
  • Share this site with colleagues, parents, students, stakeholders so that you can help us build awareness about the most significant changes needed for inclusion.

1 - Find out more about 'Most Significant Change'

Find out more about the Most Significant Change (MSC)  Methodology, originally written by Rick Davies and Jess Dart. This has informed our Inclusion Stories project. You can either read the original paper (below left) or the handy INTRAC summary(below right):

2 -  Explore our Inclusion Stories

Click on the link in the top navigation bar to explore our growing collection of Inclusion Stories.

Each story is written in sections and offers real situations from a variety of practitioners and other stakeholders.

Analysis

Each story includes a Most Significant Change Analysis section that includes a summary of ALL observable changes as well as the candidate ‘Most Significant Change’, as well as the 'Domains of Change' and 'Stakeholders'.

Change Ripple

Each story includes a Change Ripple, a visual interpretation of the observable and significant changes, intended to make them more explicit.

Reflection Prism

Each story includes a 'Reflection Prism': a view of the Most Significant Change from pedagogic, psychological and sociological perspectives. Included here are the meta-reflections of practitioners. For some of the stories we have added Expert Commentaries written by invited specialists to assist further evaluation and reflection.

Significant Change Radio

Alternatively, dip into our story archive spontaneously via the homepage player to preview observed significant changes and immediately access full case studies.

3 -  Resources

You are welcome to use the resources we have gathered on this website. Use them for inspiration, to try out for yourself, or as a basis for pedagogical discussions.

The tools and strategies described in the stories can be found in the resource section. We have a wide collection of practical teaching strategies.

4 -  Events

We are promoting a series of webinars and collecting information about other events on inclusive education. Please follow us for participation. Visit the events page for more information.

In the spring of 2028 we will organise a transnational conference in Sweden. Follow us for more information on this event.
